Alex Kopacz
Keynote Speaker
Alex Kopacz is an Olympic gold medalist, entrepreneur, keynote speaker, TV host, and elite athletic coach from London, Ontario, Canada.
In 2018, Alex and pilot Justin Kripps won gold in two-man bobsled at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics—crossing the finish line in a historic dead heat. It was only the second tie for gold in Olympic bobsled history. Alex also captured 10 World Cup medals, a Crystal Globe as overall World Cup champion, and still holds the push start record in Altenberg, Germany.
His athletic career began as a shot putter at Western University, where he was also earning a degree in mechanical engineering. In 2013, he took a chance on bobsled after being recruited at a national talent camp. Hungry to compete at the highest level, Alex moved to Germany to train one-on-one with two-time Olympic champion Olaf Hampel—a decision that would define his career.
But Alex has never been just an athlete. He holds degrees in both mechanical engineering and physics from Western University. That technical foundation drives how he approaches everything—breaking down problems, optimizing systems, and building things that work.
Since retiring from competition, Alex has channeled that mindset into multiple ventures. He’s launched businesses in healthcare technology and continues to develop new products and ideas. He’s the host of The Good Trek—an international docuseries produced by Global Heroes exploring cultures and changemakers around the world. He coaches Olympic and elite-level athletes. He speaks at corporate conferences across North America. And he works in business development in the technology sector.
The throughline? Alex doesn’t stop building.
